I grew up in a family of readers, so it's no wonder I love reading. Growing up as a small child, I remember looking forward to family dinners and great discussions revolving around literature, the newspaper, and current events of the day. In addition to reading, I have a great love for animals of every kind. As a child, I surrounded myself with as many pets as my parents would allow. I have fond memories of our aviary, my pony, an opposum, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and lizards. But my fondest memories are of my dogs.
I also love to garden and became a wholesaler of geraniums, growing over 150 different varieties. As a local authority on geraniums, I was featured in local newspapers and Sunset Magazine. I enjoyed my work in the greenhouse because I enjoy being outdoors and I love being close to the earth.

I received my Master of Arts Degree from California State University at Long Beach in Comparative Literature. I was awarded the Outstanding Graduate honor, and was a member of Phi Kapa Phi Honor Society. I also worked for two years on the Comparative Literature Department's annual journal and became the managing editor in my second year.

I graduated in 2003 from California State University at Fullerton with an M.S. in Education with an emphasis in Reading.
